Wir proben jeweils am Dienstag Abend und haben 5-10 jährliche Auftritte.
8.5.2026: “It Was Here” CD-Taufe
Am 8. Mai veröffentlicht die ETH/UZH Big Band ihr neues Album It Was Here – UK 2025 und feiert dies mit einem CD-Release-Konzert im Musikclub Mehrspur, Musikclub Mehrspur, Toni-Areal, 19:30. Der Titel des Albums stammt vom Stück It Was Here der Band Aberdeen, in einem eigenen Arrangement für die ETH Big Band. Dieses und weitere originale Arrangements haben die Band auf der UK-Tour begleitet. Die CD Aufnahmen entstanden im Anschluss an die Tournee. Neben einer vielfältigen Mischung aus Swing-, Funk- und Latin-Titeln enthält das Album eine Komposition der Jazz Big Band Graz von Horst-Michael Schaffer, die wir im vergangenen Jahr in einem Workshop gemeinsam mit ihm einstudiert und aufgeführt haben.
Das erste Set des Release-Konzerts verbindet ausgewählte Stücke des neuen Albums mit einem Best-of aus dem letzten Album For You – A Decent Album. Im zweiten Set kommt die Sängerin Brigitte Wullimann dazu, die mit einem vokalen Programm eine Brücke von Jazz zu Pop und Soul spannt.
6.6.2026: UCL200 Summer Festival Bicentenary Ball
The ETH/UZH Big Band returns to the UK for a special open-air performance as part of the bicentenary celebrations of University College London. The invitation builds on connections established during the band’s previous UK tour and reflects a century-long connection between UCL and Switzerland: in 1926, six UCL students travelled to Switzerland for an academic exchange, making the front page of UCL’s first student newspaper. One hundred years later, the ETH/UZH Big Band travels from Zurich to London to perform on the closing evening of the UCL200 Summer Festival, where it will be joined by UCL student singers. The programme features a dance-oriented big band repertoire, from swinging rhythms and Latin grooves to funk, alongside a selection of singalong classics. We look forward to sharing this evening with the UCL community in the historic Main Quad and are honoured to be part of the UCL bicentenary celebrations.
